3/29/23 - Genesis 39: 1-6

Genesis 39: 1-6 Observation: Joseph is taken to Egypt and becomes a slave to Potiphar who is an Egyptian captain for the guards. The Lord was with Joseph therefore Joseph prospered while living in Potiphar's household. Eventually Joseph became Potiphar attendent as Potiphar took notice of how the Lord was with Joseph and gave Joseph success in everything he did. Potiphar put Joseph in charge of everything within the household and completely entrusted Joseph of everything that belonged to Potiphar. Because of Joseph, everything in Potiphar's household was blessed as well as the fields. Potiphar would leave everything to Josesph's care and Potiphar would not concern himself with anything other than the food that he ate. Interpretation: Joseph was sold as a slave to Potiphar would be considered a "chief of police" in today's society; this would mean Potiphar is a highly trusted official in the government of Egypt. It's clear for Joseph he had no control over

2/07/23 - John 6:1-13

John 6:1-13 Observation: Jesus travelled to the shores of the Sea of Galilee and was followed by a great number of people who sought out Jesus to heal them. Jesus went up the mountain and met with his disciples. As the Passover festival was near Jesus brought up and asked Philip on where they could buy bread to feed the people. Even though Jesus already knew the answer to this question, Philip's response was pessimistic as Philip brought up the fact that it would take a half a year's wage in order to buy enough bread for mass. Andrew informed Jesus and the group that a boy has five small loaves of bread and two small fish. Jesus would then instruct his disciples to tell the mass to sit down. Jesus took the loaves of bread, gave thanks (prayed) and started handing out the bread and fish to the people who were seated without any restrictions. Once everyones' stomachs were full, Jesus instructed his disciples to not let anything go to waste and gather all the leftover pieces

1 Samuel 15:10-23 Observation: 10-11: During Samuel's prayer, the Lord has told Samuel His regret on annoiting Saul as king of Israel as Saul has disobyed the Lord's instruction. 12: Samuel was informed Saul set up a monument at Carmel and afterwards went to Gilgal. 13-23: Samuel reaches Saul and accuses Saul of his disobedience to the Lord's instructions. Saul attempts to explain himself by stating he destroyed everything however he kept the best sheep and cattle so that he may sacrifice them to "the Lord your God". Samuel did not want to hear it and reiterate to Saul the Lord's instruction followed by questioning Saul's disobedience. Saul's rebuttal was that he strongly felt he did follow and obey the Lord's instruction and whatever he and the soldiers kept was to be offered up as sacrifices to the Lord. Samuel replies with a question on which is better, sacrifices or obedience followed by further explaining the concept of sin. At the end Samuel
